Annual Research Symposium

Jinnah Medical & Dental College / Sohail University hosted its 2nd Annual Research Symposium on 25th Feb 2020 which highlighted diverse research conducted in various disciplines on campus. One of the main objectives of the Annual Research Symposium is to disseminate new knowledge acquired through research conducted by final year MBBS students under faculty supervision. Undergraduate Research Preject Presentations were graded as follows: 1st Prize Tiltle: Interventional Study Regrading Awareness of Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C among prison inmates in Malir Jail Karachi. Blood Donation Drive 2020

103 Heroes (Blood Donors) donated their blood in the event held on 20th Feb 2020 at Jinnah Medical & Dental College (JMDC) / Sohail University / Medicare Cardiac & General Hospital. Students of MBBS, BDS, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) & Bachelor of Science with faculty and staff participated with high spirits in a blood drive. This event was held on Thursday with titled “Every Blood Donor is a HERO” in collaboration with Saylani Welfare Trust, where 103 blood bags were collected, while last year 100 donors had donated their blood. Later on, Medical Director Dr. Fadieleh A. Sohail distributed the trophy to the position holders, where MBBS II student got 1st position, DPT II 2nd & BDS IV was on third position. 20-Feb-2020

White Coat Ceremony

White Coat Ceremony was held on 18th, February 2020. Students are presented with a white coat, which is a traditional symbol of clinical service. Sohail University welcomes this stellar group of DPT students who are newly inducted into the physical therapy profession. 18-February-2020

The agreement was signed between Biomedical Research Center, Sohail University & National Institute of Blood Diseases

The agreement was signed between Biomedical Research Center, Sohail University & National Institute of Blood Diseases & Bone Marrow Transplantation (NIBD) at a ceremony held on June 4th 2021, at Sohail University. The agreement was signed by Dr. Sabeeh Jaffery, Registrar Sohail University and Dr. Jawad Hassan, Head of Diagnostic Haematology, on behalf of their respective institutions. As per the MoU both institutes agreed to promote cooperation in the field of research and diagnostic technology and related fields through collaborative research. The agreement will be effective for the period of three years On the occasion Director, Biomedical Research Center, Prof. Rizwana S. Waraich said “Sohail University, is one of emerging research and academic institution in the region, at the same time having a rich history of imparting medical, dental and allied education in the region since last twenty years. This MoU would further boost its research efforts and help tackle academic and technological challenges.” “NIBD & BMT is a specialized center of Haematology, Bone Marrow Transplantation, and Allied Surgical/Medical Specialties. National Institute of Blood Diseases & Bone Marrow Transplantation (NIBD & BMT) is the only tertiary care and teaching institute at the national level exclusively dedicated to providing comprehensive diagnosis and management of patients suffering from blood disorders. The Institute is the pioneer in Bone Marrow Transplantation in Pakistan. The MoU will strengthen the research capacity of both institutes” Dr. Jawad Hassan expressed his views in the ceremony. Prof. Dr. Syed Jamshed Ali Kazmi, Vice-Chancellor of Sohail University, graced the ceremony with his presence.
