To train health professionals/teachers in basics concepts and principles of health Professions education and prepare them as effective members of teaching community.

It will serve as a foundation course for Junior Faculty members who wish to take up Medical Education as a career choice in future.

Some important aspects regarding the Certificate program in Health Professions Education are as follows:

• It will be a combination of interactive, face to face and online learning sessions.
• Having a student-centered learning approach, it will require maximum participation from the learners.
• Total duration of the program will be 6 months and will have 3 contact sessions, one in the first month, second after 2.5 months and third in the last month. Last contact session will be followed by examinations.
• Each contact session will be from 9.00 am to 1.30 pm for 4 days (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm on Fridays.
• Total contact hours will be 70 i.e. 15 CME credit hours.
• Daily schedule will be divided into 2 sessions: from 9am to 11am and 11am to 1.30 pm. with Tea Break in between and lunch at the end. Attendance will be taken at different times.
• Minimum 90% attendance is mandatory.
• Laptop will be a basic requirement for each participant throughout the session.
• Relevant material and additional resources will be shared with the participants.

Target Participants:

First session is for MBBS and BDS faculty exclusively. Teaching faculty of medical and allied health sciences i.e. medical doctors, dentists, physical therapists, pharmacists, nurses.

Eligibility for Obtaining Certificate in CHPE:

• Passing all the face-to-face sessions

• Timely submissions of all the assignment

• Obtaining minimum of 60% in aggregate score

• Minimum attendance of 90% in face-to-face sessions otherwise remedial assignments have to be submitted

Formative Assessment:

For Knowledge: The students will be assessed through Assignments (03) related to major/important themes.

For Skill and attitude: There will be an assessment on the ongoing small group activities, attendance and attitude of each student during the contact session. These activities will be recorded through assessment Performa based on checklists, rating scales and video recording or direct observation of their teaching sessions followed by a reflection of the participants and constructive feedback by the peers and teachers.

Summative Assessment:

• End of Certificate exam will consist of Structured Essay Questions.
• A student must attain 60% marks in aggregate to get through the program.

TOS OF THE PROGRAM:
