COURSE DESCRIPTION

Sonographic examination plays an important role in developing diagnosis of the patient. The certificate program in ultrasonography is intended to develop imaging skills using ultrasonographic techniques. The candidates will learn all of the basic academic knowledge required to work in this field and, importantly, have plenty of hands-on training. They will be introduced to the ultrasound physics, use of transducers and its clinical practice. They will be further trained in abdominal, obstetrics and gynecological ultrasonography. The program will continually strive to provide students with high quality education and excellent clinical training, under qualified supervision.

Course Detail

We have designed our ultrasound course for those who want to take ultrasound as their specialty, those who are already performing ultrasounds but want to refresh their knowledge and for those who wish to be updated with the latest technology. In accordance with accepted good practice, the course integrates theory with practice, meaning that you will perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations as you learn. The course, accredited by the Sohail University, will teach you how to use ultrasound imaging in clinical practice. You will be taught the principles and practice of ultrasound science, the practical applications of ultrasound and develop an appreciation of the principles of scientific investigation. Throughout the course, we will monitor and assess your clinical practice. This does not just mean technique, but also knowledge, comprehension, communication, analysis and management – in terms of the patient, your technology and your personal qualities. Through an introduction to the physics, equipment, safety and relevant professional issues alongside clinical modules, you will develop an understanding of current techniques and proficiency in medical ultrasound. This Medical Ultrasound course is ideal for healthcare professionals wanting to develop new skills in ultrasound or clinicians who wish to utilise ultrasound imaging in clinical practice.

Teaching methods – what to expect

You will have approximately 150 hours of academic teaching in a 1 year period. You will undertake a minimum of 12.5 hours per month supervised scanning throughout the course. A member of the programme team will be there with you to support you and observe your work.
