Annual Music Competition

Students of Sohail University attended music classes for annual music competition that was going to be held on mid-march but due to COVID-19 it was postponed.

Program on “Introduction of Typhoid conjugate vaccine”

Jinnah Medical & Dental College / Sohail University, Department of Pediatrics, in collaboration with EPI, Govt. of Sindh, organized a program on 12th March 2020 on “Introduction of Typhoid conjugate vaccine”. Professor S.M. Inkisar Ali coordinator while Asst. Prof. Dr. Uzma Arshad, Department of Pediatrics, was the moderator of the program. A large number of the audience included doctors, senior nursing & paramedic staff attended the program. 12-March-2020

Awareness Session on Covid-19 (Corona Virus)

The common flu kills 60 times more people annually than Coronavirus, only 2% of cases have reported deaths was said by Dr. Rizwan Ali in a workshop on Coronavirus (Covid-19) which was held on 11th March 2020. Professor, Dr. Ajeet Kumar & Dr. Rizwan Qurban Ali Khawaja, Department of Medicine, were the speaker of the event who provided valuable information on COVID-19. Large number of Doctors, Medical students, Nursing Department and Medicare staff attended the workshop. While receiving Q&A’s from audience about precautionary measures, Dr. Ajeet said, people should wash hand with soap for at least 20 seconds and sneezing into flexed elbow is the best practice. Furthermore he added that only 2% of cases have reported death and most of these deaths were associated with weaker immune system. 11-March-2020

Workshop on Neonatal Resuscitation

Jinnah Medical & Dental College organized workshop on 10th March 2020 on Neonatal Resuscitation. More than 30 participants including doctors & staff were participated in the event. JMDC, Head of Pediatric Department, Professor S.M Inkisar Ali while emphasized the importance of event said that timely and effective neonatal resuscitation cannot be over emphasized. Globally, around 4 million neonatal deaths occur every year, out of these more than a million new born die on their first day of life. Furthermore, 93% of deaths occur in low and middle income countries including Pakistan. About 25% of all neonatal deaths are caused by birth asphyxia, he added. He also emphasized that birth asphyxia can be effectively treated to a very large extent with timely resuscitation of new born and failure to do so will result in mortality and long-term neuro developmental disability. Professor Inkisar praised Services of Senior Pediatrician Dr. Habiba Hassan. Dr. Habiba thanked J.M.C.H and presented review on the subject. At the end of event, Q&A’s session was conducted and certificates were distributed among participants and facilitators. 10-March-2020
