World Mental Health Day

This specific year internationally, World Mental Health Day is justly celebrated on 10th October After the COVID-19 pandemic the social lives have been principally changed globally. Universally considering the formidable challenges due to the pandemic it is imperative to properly provide meticulous care to satisfactorily address the Mental Health. ‘Increased Investment in Mental Health’ appropriately represent the prime goal of this typical year on World Mental Health Day!

Global Handwashing Day

Global Handwashing Day (GHD) is an international awareness day committed to increasing alertness about the significance of Hand Hygiene. Handwashing is equally vital in the fight against the pandemic COVID-19 and shown to support reduce the direct transmission of a range of virulent viruses and infectious diseases.

Awareness Session on Screening & Prevention of Carcinoma Breast

According to statistical data, 90 thousand breast cancer cases are reported every year in Pakistan. It is our prime responsibility to aware general public about the disease, said by Assistant Professor /Consultant General & Breast Surgeon Dr. Sadiqa Bano in a workshop. Jinnah Medical and Dental College organized 7 awareness session of Breast Cancer with the title “Screening & Prevention of Carcinoma Breast” for female dental house officers, MBBS, BDS, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Biomedical & Biological Sciences, Bachelor of Business Administration students and faculty members. Sessions were conducted by Senior Registrar Prof. Dr. Rasheeqa Mehmood & Dr.Sadiqa Bano at Jinnah Medical & Dental College and Jinnah Medical College Hospital. The speaker emphasized that early detection, screening & timely diagnose could help to reduce the risk rate. It is the only possible way to reduce the death rate among women due to breast cancer disease.

Workshop on Neonatal Resuscitation

Jinnah Medical & Dental College organized workshop on 10th March 2020 on Neonatal Resuscitation. More than 30 participants including doctors & staff were participated in the event. JMDC, Head of Pediatric Department, Professor S.M Inkisar Ali while emphasized the importance of event said that timely and effective neonatal resuscitation cannot be over emphasized. Globally, around 4 million neonatal deaths occur every year, out of these more than a million new born die on their first day of life. Furthermore, 93% of deaths occur in low and middle income countries including Pakistan. About 25% of all neonatal deaths are caused by birth asphyxia, he added. He also emphasized that birth asphyxia can be effectively treated to a very large extent with timely resuscitation of new born and failure to do so will result in mortality and long-term neuro developmental disability. Professor Inkisar praised Services of Senior Pediatrician Dr. Habiba Hassan. Dr. Habiba thanked J.M.C.H and presented review on the subject. At the end of event, Q&A’s session was conducted and certificates were distributed among participants and facilitators. 10-March-2020
